Struggling with Anxiety Attacks in Public

recently I was triggered by something I heard in the news and it's been very difficult for me to go out. I've had anxiety attacks while out last week and no one seems to understand.

I am so sorry 😞 This must be agonizing for you to deal with and not have others around you understand. Please don't listen if others tell you what you are feeling is unreasonable. They don't understand how things that happen around us can trigger anxiety, like you have happened. Is there anything at all that you have found that helps ease your anxiety?

Don't do a lot of deep breathing. Sometimes I take Ativan but because I'm on oxy for pain I don't usually take the Ativan. Sometimes I do meditation but I haven't done that in a while. I just need to feel comfortable in my own place. Not feeling safe outside not feeling safe inside and none of it is logical.

Have you ever tried running water over your hands when you are having a panic attack? That can help some people to bring them or of a panic attack. It might help. I'm no doctor or anything, but my counselor told me that and I've tried it. A cold rag on the back of the neck also helps me.

I've done lukewarm showers to cold but when I'm out and about and in public I can always get to a restroom I don't know where the restrooms are sometimes so I do believe that the cold water helps.

I know how hard it can be sometimes in public, I personally would also take myself out of the environment. I would basically leave the store to get away from whatever was triggering me. Some of my triggers are people dipping, and the smell of old spice.
