Does anyone else's anxiety prevent them from eating? Sometimes it's just so bad that my throat feels like its closing and that I cant swallow, kinda like when you can't eat another bite but this time you're starving but cant swallow anything.

Yes 100%, it affects my stomach as well so when I manage to get something down Id just feel nauseous. What I've noticed has helped is taking small sips of water, which coincidentally is also a great way to regulate your breathing :)

mine makes it to where the smell of food makes me want to throw up. I have to actually cover my mouth and nose to stop myself from gagging.

This is EXACTLY how I feel, When I told people, they didn't understand what I meant by my throat felt tight, like i couldnt swallow even though i was very hungry. I would lose a lot of weight (10-15 pounds) over a period of just a few days to a week because of it. I've started drinking more water or flavored water and it has helped

@BabyA01 i know how you feel my friends with anxiety would stress eat and never understood that i couldnt eat at all, they always thought it was disordered eating! Ive found juice or candy helps the most

I would go through these intense bouts of nausea, i didnt realize it connected to my anxiety with social situations and food in general until my therapist pointed it out. I could be completely starving, take one bite and then feel like throwing up

I felt this a lot before I started my medications. A tight throat is one of the main things I dealt with. It's almost like you're wanting to cry but holding it in. As far as eating goes try starting off with some hard candies. Something good though like blue Jolly Ranchers. Peppermint is also supposed to have a calming effect for anxiety. I also really like chocolate milk and was able to drink that on bad days too. I hope you feel better soon!!
