Anxiety and Diarrhea: Does Anyone Else Experience This?

Anyone else get horrible anxiety when their stomach is upset (ie getting diarrhea) ?? Having a panic attack and feeling like crap right now, literally.

You can talk to ur doctor about an SSRI they help with the anxiety and stress part of IBS it’s a common tx to take a low dose… Google it you may find some answers there too

yes and as a safer more mild alternative trying 5-htp is an option. I have been taking it for a while now cyclically and it has helped anxiety-related ibs symptoms tremendously.

This is so relatable. For me its circular in that i get anxious when my stomach is upset and then my stomach gets worse because I'm anxious.

What 2 things helps for 1 long term is I take Aleve. Then there is Physical Therapy that can heat towels and put them on your back that is good relief.

Yes all the time! A big thing my dr brings up is the connection between the brain and gut. Your brain can make your gut act out and vice versa. Sometimes it helps me to be able to recognize that the way my stomach is feeling can also dictate how I respond to situations like being sick.
