Has anyone tried Amitriptyline?

Has anyone tried Amitriptyline? My doctor wants me to try this instead of lyrica again. If you have tried it I’m looking for reviews. Thanks 💜

I’m on a low dose of amitriptyline, along with lyrica, to help me sleep better. It has definitely improved in that sense, but I’m not sure about if it benefits my daily life. I haven’t really put thought into that.

I tried lyrica years ago and it made me extremely sleepy all the time so we decided not to try it again.. so basically it helps you sleep but doesn’t take away any pain and other symptoms

Was taking it with Lyrica. Both of them combined made me gain 100 pounds. Was so tired! I'm tired enough without that stuff!! It's not worth it!

Amitryptaline is an old tricyclic antidepressant. It can help with nerve pain, help prevent migraines, help you sleep, and of course depression. First off, it doesn’t have to be lyrica or amitryptaline, it can be both, it can be neither, there are a wide variety of things you can take depending on what you need. I am currently taking cymbalta, Wellbutrin, lyrica, amitryptaline, lunesta, and propranolol. This concoction of meds is helping me the best so far (albeit still not idea) with my depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, Functional Neurological disorder, and Fibromyalgia. But this is just me, every persons body is going to metabolize medication different and it will affect each person differently. Fibromyalgia in particular is something takes a lot of testing. There are only 3 medications FDA approved for Fibromyalgia: Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella. Everything else is proscribed off label and every doctor is gonna have their own opinions on what should work best. The most you can do for yourself is know your shit! Do research on what you take, other things that people commonly take or take instead if that doesn’t work. Ask around like this. And challenge your doctor. If you go in to see your doctor and you know just as much(if not more) about what you’re taking and other options and your knowledge is correct and your confident they will listen to you. Doing that is actually how I got started in most of my medications and they have all worked better than what I was being prescribed in the past
