We’ll, I feel like I’m faking Tourette’s. I have the occasional tic nowadays and it really feels like I don’t actually have TS. I know there’s periods of time where there is almost no tics at all and other times where you just can’t stop but I’ve been in this dry spell for like two months. Do I still have TS?

My tics get severe and calm in a cycle. I had them quite severe for probably six months but then they calmed a bit and I had a tic attack one night out of no where and they got super severe for a few weeks and then calmed again. Tics wax and wane but I have felt like I was faking when they got calm. I have a heart condition and when it got really bad and I was bedridden I had absolutely no tics. But I had surgery and got better and now they are back. Other illnesses can cause tics to lessen even things like colds I've heard can make tics benign for a while. And if you are struggling with depression I've heard for some it can makes the tics go away and others it can heighten them. Its a very unique disorder and can affect people in so many different ways. Its quite interesting when you read about the differences people experience within this one condition!

I have had so many "friends" talk about how I'm probably faking it and that ts isn't a real disorder 🙄

Tourettes is known to wax and wane. What you’re experiencing is completely normal! You still have Tourettes.
I feel you I'm going through a bit of the same thing but I like to remind myself that you can't judge a book unless you start from the beginning and the truth of the matter is that it can be really hard to look back on things sometimes but looking back and seeing how different it is can help just remember your doing great and to keep your hopes up❤️

Your completely valid even when your not having tic attacks/ticing 💜
i had about six months where i had very little tics and very few tics attacks if any at all. sometimes it just chills out for a bit! you might have a period of bad tics and you might have a period of good tics. if you are concerned about it though, i do recommend bringing it up to your doctor/therapist! ts is something that is unique for everyone!
I feel the exact same. but I’ll tell you what others have told me — just because you’re doing better with it, doesn’t mean you don’t have it. if you didn’t have it, you wouldn’t have had to get better with it. you’re still valid. everybody is different and becomes different. that’s okay. so what if it’s little to none? it’s still there inside of you and can do anything it pleases. it is still present. you still have it. I hope this helped
