Am I Bipolar? Short Upbeat Episodes and Long Depressive States

I’m thinking I might be bipolar. Most of the time I feel down and I stay in bed all day but once in a while for an hour or so I feel upbeat for no reason. I’ve done some research and usually manic episodes last a lot longer than that. Am I just making it up?

You are definitely not making it up but this doesn’t sound like bipolar. Manic episodes are much longer and are more than feeling upbeat. I talk fast and literally work for 20 hours a day. I have to remind myself to eat and sleep and go to the bathroom. I have to remind myself to go a reasonable speed while driving. By the end of a mic week I’m exhausted and I feel so bad because of the lack of food and sleep. And it isn’t just feeling upbeat. It is feeling like you are in top of the world. Like you can do anything. If this sounds like something you do. You might want to look into ADHD. It can sometimes cause a shorter period kind of like mania.
