Hello! I’m recently diagnosed with AFib (less than a week) and I was just curious how I might expect my day to day to change? Aside from dietary restrictions - is there anything else I should be prepared for?

Hi there! I’ve been living with paroxysmal a-fib for 21 years now. I’ve only had about 10 episodes over that time, max. You should continue living your life like normal unless you know 100% that something specifically triggers your a-fib. Cut back a bit on caffeine & alcohol, and increase your exercise regimen. Doing that has really helped me keep the episodes at bay.

I bought a Apple Watch so I could keep track of my Afib Episodes. It’s been a very useful tool. I wanted to know how long it lasted and how high my heart rate is. I found that my episodes were less frequent when I made sure I had drank enough water and what foods could set it off.

Thank you! Question: what does afib look like on a heart rate monitor. How do I know?

I use an iPhone app called Heartbeats that measures heart rate and heart irregularity. I have AFIB and I had a cardio version and it corrected it. It’s been about 6 months since then. They usually don’t last, so I check my heart with this app frequently.
