Advocating for Myself: Seeking a Diagnosis for Ongoing Stomach Issues

Hey!! I’m currently in the process of getting diagnosed. I have had ongoing stomach issues for 2 years now. My doctors say it’s probably just anxiety but this isn’t just an anxious stomach. I get super bloated, cramping/ pressure pain, constipated, and nauseous after eating a “normal” amount. How can I advocate for myself without seeming like I am just googling all of my symptoms?

I also struggle to describe my pain though and haven’t quite figured that one out, so we’re on that journey together I suppose

As much as I hate to say it, you should switch doctors if possible. If they haven’t been listening to your concerns for so long, it’s time to switch things up and pursue a doctor that will- so many of them are out there! Also, there’s nothing wrong with saying that you’ve done research on what may be wrong with your body. In my experience, if you tell your doctor flat out what you suspect the issues may be and why, the good ones will explain why it’s unlikely or offer testing to put your worries aside. If you don’t feel like that’s a good avenue for you, you can let them know that you’d like to see a specialist and ask for a referral directly! My specialists have been my heroes
