Does anyone have any advice on tackling health anxiety? A week ago I had the stomach flu and since it took me longer than it usually does to recover, my anxiety immediately assumed the worst. Like something more was wrong with me. The thing is, I’ve felt like this before and it was anxiety. It’s gotten to the point where I’m scared to eat out of fear of feeling sick again. That, in turn, is causing me to feel even worse which spikes my anxiety even more. Please let me know if you have any advice!

I've been there too. I stand by that throwing up is one of the absolute worst experiences ever. I would take days of diarrhea over vomiting once... personally. So when I get sick like that, I'm TERRIFIED of upsetting my stomach again and making myself vomit more. I read somewhere about the amounts of water you should drink when rehydrating and it totally changed how I thought about it. I always tried to just get as much water (or gatorade/pedialyte/etc) in as possible before it came back up. What you're supposed to do tho, is aim for 1 teaspoon of water for the first hour, then 1.5-2, then a tablespoon, and go on like that, each over an hour. Super specific advice, ik, but it was revolutionary to me lol As for being afraid it's something worse, I get that too. I'm always worrying that whatever I have going on is worse than it is. In general getting my anxiety better under control helps, and also just telling myself that the likelihood of me being special is so low and "resigning" to the fact that I wouldn't be "fortunate" enough to have something "interesting" helps too.

I go through very similar issues. My stomach was a mess when I had pancreatitis and I have a bunch of other stomach problems too. It makes me so anxious also! I have started to carry a change of clothes and diapers around with me! It actually helps. I think it is just the fact that they calm me down knowing I have them with me. So I totally get you! Sending my love!

Hey ! I get you 100% ! But if you had the stomach flu , the kind of germs that entered your body , your now has a short immunity to it so it’s almost impossible to catch it again within a month ! Ect I had the noravirus and for a month your practically immune , so if you were unwell last week you are practically guaranteed safe from it for another 2 weeks ( this doesn’t mean as soon as the months up you will catch it again Dont worry I worry the same ) so your going to me okay !! I recommend foods such as pasta , bread , and drinking water it helps to settle your stomach and your mind ! Don’t worry your safe and shall get through this ♥️♥️
