Need advice on medication for depression

My psychiatrist put me on Abilify about 6-8 months ago, it's been working fairly well. It helps stabilize the mood swings and helps a bit with focus issues.

Effexor (venlafaxine) extended release works great for me. While I was getting intense therapy for BPD I was also on Lithobid (a form of lithium) the regular blood checks drive me nuts after a year or so. I was allergic to Prozac, Wellbutrin and Celexa didn't work for me, made me ill. I had to go through all of that before they let me try effexor. It was my magic pill. It made a wonderful difference right away. I wish you luck on your med journey. Effexor is very expensive and one becomes dependant on it. If you stop taking it you get so sick there's no option other than the ER. So it's nothing to play with. I know only my experience. My story is only meant to help.
