Adult Autism sucks. I'm having the kind of sensory overload and anxiety that I can only get out with a full blown meltdown, but I have to be a professional adult right now which is making it worse. At least when I was a kid and had meltdowns, nobody would treat me badly because of it. Some people got frustrated and my crappy parents got mad, but I never had to suppress anything for fear of social stigma. Then starting at some point in high school, instead of understanding that your emotional regulation is out of what, people start treating you like a freak when you need to cry and get all the bad feelings out. Autism doesn't stop when you hit a certain age.
