I had my friends come help me have a photo shoot with my mobility aids to help me feel less embarrassed and to embrace my new normal. It helped a lot

Follow up question: how long did it take to get the handicapped parking pass?

Stopped thinking about what others thought. It was tough at first, especially when people twice my age could move faster but after 2 years…

I decorated both of mine which helps because I think they look nice and because usually if people comment on them they say they’re pretty. The first few times I went out with one I had someone go with me. Also a cool thing I’ve experienced is that I’ve gotten to have great interactions with other youngish people with mobility aids while out in public. Oh and I’ve found that sometimes if I feel uncomfortable I put in headphones and/or just avoid making eye contact so I can just live in my little bubble haha. I really hope your aid helps!! Mine have been super beneficial

If it's a cane or walker you're using, I would start using a small backpack to carry things in. Not only are you reduced to just one or no hands now, but purses are harder to manage
