My parents are convinced that I'm using ADHD as an excuse to not have to do anything, they don't listen when I try to explaine to them that I really want to do things, I'm just so burnt out and overwhelmed that it makes it really really hard for me to do anything. What I really need from them is help and support, but I'm not sure how to get them to realize I'm not making it up to be lazy. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?

Bro, i'm not gonna lie. You have to motivate yourself to do the smallest stuff. Like when i go out of my room to go to the bathroom I always get all the dishes out of my room. Ive managed to keep it 2/3 clean for a while and I have never took any meds because my moms a pill addict and she would take my Adderall. I also think about how hard other peoples loves are as well and that I should more develop my empathy. tldr : motivate yourself and think about how much better your life will be when you can do the things that you normally cant and enjoy it. tldr tldr: stop being a bitch

If you've been officially diagnosis, you could try asking your doctor to help explain the situation to your parents. Unfortunately it's not always possible to open peoples minds to mental health struggles, so it's possible you'll have to try to find ways around it yourself even after your best efforts with convincing them. I had this problem all through school, but i didn't know it was adhd at the time, my parents didn't believe me about my struggles no matter what i said. It's possible to get through it though, i promise

I have this problem and I thought my mom would be understanding since she also has adhd but she continues to call me lazy even if I try to explain to her. The only way I have seen myself be more productive is if I do body doubling. Which is when someone sits in person or on the phone when trying to do hard tasks and I feel like it helps me so much

I cut people out of my life that cause unnecessary stress. I don’t need unsupportive people in my circle.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Have you tried looking online for free counseling services? I just looked on Google and it brought up lots of articles with resources (onlinetherapy.com said they have free therapy?? I’d look at that if you want to go that way) I don’t have any advice from personal experience Tl;dr Look for free online therapy if u want that
