Struggling to Remember to Eat and Drink with ADHD Medication

Any tips for remembering to eat and drink? πŸ˜‚ As someone with a fairly low appetite as it is, plus appetite suppression from my adhd medication, I forget to eat and/or drink 90% of the time

I have to remind my wife frequently to drink. She just doesn't get thirsty and she isn't on ADHD meds. That's just how she is. We keep bottles of tea, water, Gatorade, etc by where we are the majority of the time.

For drinking, I have an app called plant nanny that helps me remember, and for eating, I really had to get into a scheduled habit of eating. It feels kinda like a chore, so I try to do things like make soup or cut up fruit and veggies or cook chicken ahead of time, so then when I remember to eat, I just get smth that's already made.

Put post-it notes all around your house in places you will often see them, go the point they get annoying. I put my breakfast infront of the front door before I leave in the morning so I won't forget it!

Honestly. Surrounding myself with friends on an eating schedule and them saying they were hungry or asking what I plan to have for lunch really helped me remember to eat. On the drink side I used to leave cups but the sink only small ones and just have 1 cup every time I pass it. Not ideal but it helped drink some water

With drinking water I’ve found one hack that works. Get a bottle you like/love (one with a straw has been a game changer for me) and make sure you keep it full & with you 100%. I aim for this rather than β€˜drink water’

I leave easy snacks in obvious places and within the path of my usual routine (e.g. near bed or desk) and keep safe foods well stocked. I've also seen someone advise making it a game such as catching food in your mouth to get past lack of appetite.

I struggle with this too. I find that setting reminders help with it. Like, I’ll set reminders for 12:00, 12:30, and 13:00 and then hopefully one will work
