I describe it as "the ghosts in my brain are shutting up" because as my meds kick in my mind stops racing, and i can focus when i want to.

You should feel something. Either being more present, or more energy/focus. Even negative side effects like jitters. If you feel nothing then either that drug doesn't work for you or the side is way too low.

I have chronic fatigue issues and so one of the most clearly apparent things for me was being able to stay awake through the day! 😄 That being said, I am still definitely capable of sleeping whilst on them ... hmmm. Just keep in mind that it may depend on which exact medicine you'rd on. I take Vyvanse (lisdexamphetamines) and the difference I feel when once they kick in, which for me takes about 1.5 - 2 hours from taking them, is literally unmissable. I've heard much the same from others taking Vyvanse specifically, but other medications such as ritalin or dexamphetamines may be more subtle. Hope that helps some. 🤗

Being able to focus is my number one indicator. The fact the I can get through my class work and exams without being distracted (most of the time) is like a miracle to me lol

It’s hard to tell honestly especially if other issues are going on which is my problem but it can give more energy and focus to do a task, motivation basically to just sit down and do something however making that focus go on the right thing is difficult, for example you take the meds and intend to do your taxes that day but end up researching Egyptian mythology for 9 hours without really taking a break lol so regulation is another challenge, for me my medication doesn’t rly help me as I have autoimmune diseases that stop me functioning but I feel worse without them like more tired and stressed so I take them anyway

I feel more relaxed, almost like my mind is "quiet" but I can still function and do certain things. I cleaned my room the other day and was able to focus on just cleaning my room and not getting "distracted" by small things.
