ADHD medication for POTS. A little over a year and a half ago, I was prescribed Vyvanse (in a nut shell- the newer, reformed version of Adderall). This was huge in helping fight off the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I deal with from POTS. At the time, I had gone on a POTS reddit community and found that a majority of the potsies there were doing the same thing and found it instrumental in being able to do the little things, like getting out of bed. I wanted to post this as a tip or advice for anyone finding the fatigue of POTE to be utterly unbearable, as I was at the time of my diagnosis. What I have found, along with a lot of the users in the POTS reddit community, was that a very (very) low dose of the stimulant helped replace some of the energy I had otherwise lost. The starting dose for Vyvanse is 30mg and I am only on 20mg. I cannot tolerate any more as my heart rate skyrockets. 20mgs is perfect for me and doesn’t affect my heart rate…(it’s always high lol, welcome to the world of POTS!) So if you’re reading this and tired of prolonged fatigue, I would recommend trying this route. A lot of psychiatrists prescribe based on diagnosis, meaning they aren’t likely to prescribe medication unless you have the main condition it’s mean to treat (in this case, ADD). However, my psychiatrist prescribed based on symptoms which is how I ended up on Vyvanse as someone with POTS. Definitely something to look into if you’re looking for some additional help!
