Dealing with ADHD and GAD: Seeking Advice on Medication

Does anyone have adhd and gad? I got prescribed antidepressants for my anxiety but I am now thinking it may be better to target my adhd symptoms as well. Has anyone tried Wellbutrin?

      @Lonelyturtle I did not experience weight loss, I just didn't experience any weight gain like can happen with SSRIs. I do feel like the first few months I had to kind of MAKE myself eat, though, it did suppress my appetite a bit.

      i have both. haven't found a good medication for my ADHD, but my anxiety meds are working well for what it targets

      I have both! I've found that my ADHD medication, Vyvanse, also helps with my anxiety. I also take Gabapentin and CBD for my anxiety

      I take Clonazepam and Fluvoxamine for anxiety and OCD and for ADHD I take Adderall and feel just fine. I feel calm and focused while on Adderall.

      I have both. Well, I was diagnosed with anxiety first and then ADHD only a couple of years ago as an adult. I'm on Elvanse (Vyvanse in the US?) for my ADHD and it has helped my anxiety a bit, that and finding the perfect fidget toy for me!

      I have both. It’s standard practice to treat anxiety first then treat remaining ADHD symptoms. I got on a few anxiety meds and once that was well managed I started some for my ADHD and now it’s pretty well managed. I haven’t tried Wellbutrin because I was already on antidepressants before I went in for GAD/ADHD.

        @Soskae ya I got prescribed Zoloft but I’m nervous about starting it so I haven’t been taking it. I think I’d rather have something that also targets my adhd but good to know.. I didn’t realize it was standard to treat anxiety first.

      I love Wellbutrin! However, one of the side effects is increased anxiety for some people.

        @ceruleanstar I’m worried about taking it because it says weight loss is a side effect. I feel like that’s the case for most adhd meds though 😕 I’m underweight so that’s my only concern. Did you experience weight loss if you don’t mind me asking?

        @ceruleanstar as someone who ended up in the emergency room for a made up issue I convinced myself I had because I took wellbutrin for less than a week, oh my gosh yes. this. if you have paranoid anxiety, definitely make sure you talk with your doc and figure out a good starter dose. if you don't though, I say go for it! my mom takes it and it worked wonders for them
