How to get diagnosed with ADHD?

I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD yet and I don't like to say I have something if I haven't been diagnosed, even if it's just to myself. But my old roommate has been diagnosed and put on ADHD medication and they have expressed to me that I should see about getting diagnosed. So how would I go about that? Do I just go to my regular doctor or is there somewhere else I should go? I don't want to go to the wrong place or have them misdiagnose me.

Honestly.. Painfully ADHD can be easily misdiagnosed. Especially in the Female genes.. (Trying to find to put this since you are trans..) First go to your doctor and say you need a referral to a psychiatrist. When they ask why, just say you think you have some unresolved mental health problems. Tell the psychiatrist why you think you have ADHD and tell them you want to be tested for it.
