I was 8 years old when I was diagnosed. When I was diagnosed it was considered a fringe science and I had to go see a specialist. My doctor put me on ritalin but my parents took me off a month later. I have never had any treatment for it since but me and my doctor plan to work on it next after my gastric sleeve surgery.

22 - only because my partner at the time brought it up that I shared lots of aspects of ADHD with him, and he was diagnosed as a kid because he had the hyperactive part of ADHD I don’t have. I thought about it and ended up on the side of tiktok with people with diagnosed ADHD and it changed my perspective of it, hearing people’s stories. I asked my therapist about it and she tested me. I got the full score on the Inattentive type (I didn’t even know that was a thing) and 4/9 on the hyperactive part. I struggled in a high school and environment where mental health was reduced to “stress” and “suicide” and no in between. I was in my 5th year of college and I’m just now getting accommodations in my last semester of my undergrad.

20. I was an extremely shy and socially anxious child, and I was naturally good at schoolwork, so my teachers never suspected anything could be wrong with me

16. I knew I had it since I was 14 and I had multiple teachers concerned about my very blatantly innattentive symptoms as a child, but my parents wouldn't let me get tested until I started falling my classes in 11th grade.

I was 19 when I was diagnosed with ADHD NOS (I didn’t fully fit the criteria). Now 9 years later, I’m being retested for autism.

33 🙃 31 of those years having no idea and living fully undiagnosed. Took the past year switching providers and advocating for myself over and over to FINALLY get a diagnosis. I have a lot of learning to catch up on, so that is why I’m hereby
