Struggling with ADHD and Addiction: Seeking Medication Advice

Hi, my name is Zander. I had severe ADHD, bipolar disorder, GAD, and PTSD. I'm currently medicated for BD, PTSD, and GAD. (You can see what I take on my profile.) I also have substance use disorder. My ADHD makes it very difficult to carry out day to day tasks and focus ok the things I truly enjoy. I use to use street drug stimulants to level me out and make so I can focus. I've chosen a better way of life and stopped taking street drugs to feel normal. However, even clean and sober, my ADHD still gets in the way. To get to the point, I was wondering if anyone had the same issue and what's helped them, medication wise, while factoring in addiction.

This may not work for you because of how severe your ADHD is but how much coffee do you drink? I've found that I caffeine-ate a few times a day (in large doses mind you) it helps a lot, but again, depends on the severity.

There are non stimulants meds you can try. I know with bipolar disorder they might not want to give you stimulants. I would say go to your doctor and talk about your options. Also you can try therapy but as someone with adhd I know that it can be hard because adhd makes it so hard to function. Exercise also helps me a lot too, even though I haven’t done it in awhile because of time. I love to work out, go on walks/hikes and I like to do dance. When I was in high school I was able to do well off meds because I did dance and marching band.
