Looking for advice on ADD medication

Is anyone taking a stimulant medication for ADD? I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and am trying to figure out what medications we could talk about. I tried Adderall but ended up having one of those rare side effects that mimicked seizures. I'm a little nervous to try something, but I'm definitely at a point where I need something to function.

Can you help? connect today

I'm taking a stimulant for ADHD. Concerta. It works differently to Adderall which used to give me panic attacks. But the Concerta works well. If that doesn't help there are other non stimulants that manage symptoms pretty well too.

I've never heard of Concerta. I will have to look that up! I've tried Straterra which is a non stimulant but that didn't seem to do much for me. I guess it's just about finding the right medication that fits your body?

I take Ritalin. It helps me a lot. I have to take it three times a day tho.

Why do you have to take it so many times?

Adderall worked well for me, but there are lots of options, both stimulants and non-stimulants for you to potentially try—I’m sure there’s something else for you!!

Thank you! 😊 Sometimes it's easy to get discouraged when playing the medicine game!

Adderall works for me but not my friends brother, it gives him the panics. He takes Vyvanse and finds it makes him significantly friendlier. Maybe not as strong a focus as others can get, but it gets him through the day just fine

Awesome!! I have heard some good things about Vyvanse. I honestly will settle with any help of focus I can get! Currently, I have a job that is super amazing for my lifestyle.. but gives absolutely no dopamine and it takes a LOT of focus. So I really want to keep it. 😅

Yeah! I get what you mean! So I talked with my DR today and I guess they are uncomfortable with prescribing a stimulant so I guess I'll get to see a psychiatrist. 🤞 Fingers crossed I can get something that work for me and not cause weird side effects! 😅

I used to take a combination of lamictal and daytrana. Both of those had helped me immensely with my ADHD and ADD. I would ask looking into something like that sometimes it's the medications that we least expect that work the best

Not a stimulant but helps with ADHD is Wellbutrin( is currently helping me.) Another is Atomoxetine. (Forgive my spelling). Neither are stimulants but they work especially if you have other stuff going on
