Access Ride: A Cheaper Alternative to Uber/Lyft for Disabled People

I finally got approved for the city’s “access ride.” It’s for folks like me who don’t drive but also due to a disability can’t use the regular bus/public transit. I can’t drive because of my seizures. I would use the bus, as there’s a bus stop just a short walk from my place, but the closest bus stop to my work is over two miles away, so that isn’t an option. So I applied to this access ride thing, got approved yesterday, and tried it today for the first time. It’s basically like Uber/Lyft but cheaper. Much cheaper. Just a few dollars per trip, no matter how far you go. I was thinking it would be a bus, but it’s just a car. A different car every time. If you have seizures or another condition that keeps you from driving, see if your city has something like this. You’ll likely just have to get your doctor to send a form explaining your disability and then do a quick phone interview.
