What should I say or do when my friends ask me why I’m not eating or they say, “Are you starving yourself or something? You better not!” ? (They don’t know I am suffering with an eating disorder)

and most people don’t understand disorders, so it’s important to help educate them on it and how it effects you. even if they don’t understand, if they are your friends they will stay around to help you be strong and cope.

talking or admitting to people that you have a disorder is stressful and nerve-racking. if these people are truly your friends, i think you should tell them. if they don’t know they are going to continue to unknowingly say insensitive things.

Restricting/losing your appetite because of anxiety is an eating disorder. I’d just be honest with your friends and let them know that you’re struggling with anxiety and you’re doing your best and kindly ask them to not point out your eating habits because it makes you uncomfortable. If they’re good friends, they’ll understand.
