Hypothyroidism

I have trouble with PCP's not being willing to treat my hypothyroidism too. Mainly it's because I'm not a "textbook" case and they have no experience with cytomel (T3 instead of T4) They referred me to an endocrinologist and she refused to keep me on what works but insists on T4. I spent a year and a half with her experimenting on me even to the point of ordering a pituitary MRI. She couldn't explain my odd test results and wouldn't even read the information I sent her from reputable sources about T3 monotherapy. Finally I had to resort to black market thyroid pills. Low thyroid destabilizes my bipolar disorder and it was getting bad. Once I went back on my pills, I was back to my normal.... although abnormal self. Then I got married and changed insurance. I will be seeing my new PCP tomorrow and I'm terrified he will refer me to an endocrinologist again. At least it will be a different one this time. I am afraid to tell him I'm taking black market thyroid pills but have always felt like you have to be honest with doctors so they can treat you correctly.

I go see a Functional Medicine doctor. Try them. Most Pcp's are reluctant to treat hypothyroidism
