It very much can be, you'd have to be quite a small person to have an 800 calorie a day diet and have it be safe. I am fairly small, and 1000 calories a day was recommended for me to lose weight. I'd recommend you speak to a nutritionist and/or a dietitian to find out how many calories you should be getting in a day. It's likely going to be much more than 800.

@RenTheFren I just saw your update comment where you can't talk to a doctor. Totally understand that. Do you think you could supplement with more soft foods? Smoothies also get nutrients in without having to chew as well. And another option to look into how many calories your body needs to simply exist is your basal metabolic rate, there's lots of calculators for that online, you input your height, gender, and weight. If you're trans, for gender it's a bit more complicated. If youve been on hormones forcat least 6 months, choose the gender you're aligned with, if not, choose what you were assigned at birth (icky, I know).

I've been prioritizing protein intake and vegetables by drinking carnations Breakfast Essentials for breakfast and dinner 13 grams of protein but only 220 calories and I eat a bag of steamed vegetables for lunch which are at most 260 calories. I'm not able to talk to a doctor or nutritionist. And I didn't start eating such low calories intentionally I have some current teeth problems I switched to a partial liquid diet which is why I drink The Breakfast Essentials and push myself to eat vegetables for lunch even though it hurts to chew. I've been eating like this for 4 days now and just now today decided to see how many calories I was getting. I feel more energetic and I've been exercising everyday I wasn't sure if 800 was too low or not though. So I thought id ask.

It really sounds like a starvation kind of diet. Have you spoken to a nutritionist or to your doctor about a healthy diet? I know it can be overwhelming because I have talked to both for myself. It is definitely a struggle to eat proper portion sizes. Ugh

"Yes, an 800 calorie a day diet is considered too restrictive. It can put your body into a stress state and instead of losing weight, your body would save energy. It might lead to quick weight loss but it won't be sustainable and it can do damage to your organs and mental health."
