Three years ago Oct 2019 I lost my best friend of seven years. We were codependent and she was the most important part of my life when she ended her life. I have been grieving this week, the summer reminds me of our best times together. I haven’t been able to sleep more then seven hours total since Monday. I am so sad, I took three hours this morning to read her entire Facebook history. Screenshooted some photos I didn’t have. I have severe menstrual cramps that have also be keeping me up at night. I’m so sad. Do you know how I feel? I could use any support you can offer.

Losing a friend is always hard. No matter how many times it happens. The hurt doesn’t get smaller. You just get more used to it. You grow with it. Like the different rings in the center of a tree, you can see scarring from bad storms. It’s the same with people. We are always carrying our sadness. Now with BPD our sadness feels so big like it could crush us. We don’t experience emotions on the same scale as other people. The intensity is cranked to 11. So it’s very important to find healthy ways to cope with your feelings and more importantly letting yourself have the opportunity to let them out. There’s healthy coping skills lists out there. Try to find one and circle or highlight all the things that sound like they would help, and try those when you feel really really upset! Let yourself have a safe place to cry or yell or sleep or be silly or however else you need to feel right now. Let yourself have your feelings. They’re not wrong.
