Can I Catch a Wart Before Visible Growth Starts?

WARTS. Is it possible to catch one before the actual visible growth starts? I only had a black spec (pin head size) on skin near thumb knuckle. I immediately put apple cider vinegar on it. And later some gel removal. It made the surrounding area (in a circle) white. So idk if that means it is a wart or it’s that way just because im treating it as a wart. It’s been a couple days now and nothing bigger but I could tell that little black spec color was still there but maybe more faded.
