so I was out with my friend yesterday and her dad bought me a skirt and I'm being told I shouldn't have let him buy it for me? I don't know what I did wrong but dads mad about it. so basically we were in a store and there was a cute skirt and her dad offered to get me it so I said yes and thanked him and I thought that was it but ya should I have just said no?

Did you say you thought it was cute before he offered to buy it for you? Or did he just randomly offer to buy you a skirt, and once he offered, you realized it was cute? I'm just trying to get a read on his intentions. Regardless of his intentions, I don't think you did anything wrong at all. I'm guessing that you saw a cute skirt, and he was probably trying to be fatherly and do something nice for his daughter's friend. Your dad might feel slighted or put off, but that's not your fault. I remember being put in situations like this as a kid, and my parents felt like I was putting someone out when people would buy me things (not even expensive things). It caused me to feel a lot of unnecessary guilt and now I struggle accepting gifts without guilt and feeling like I'm doing something wrong. You deserve to have nice things and for nice people to do nice things for you, guilt-free.

Don't let people bring you or your dad down and is was nice of that dad to buy you that skirt. There was no need to think you should have said no

i have always been told that you should fit it a bit, like with the bill or when your hanging out with friends you should try to do things yourself even if they ask but if they insist i see nothing wrong, and even if they didn’t they still offered so they can’t be mad.

None of that is your fault. Why tf is your dad mad at you... If he has a problem he should talk to the person who bought it for you. I'm sorry you're being blamed for something so stupid.

I don't see an issue with it, unless your friend's dad is attempting to flirt with you or something. Then that's wrong.
