Ok so I’ve started eating more, trying to get even more exercise, and drinking LOADS of water. I’m still gaining weight. I have gained 20 pounds since September and I am so upset about it. Someone recommended Pilates but my doctor said I shouldn’t do it because it’s to much of a risk with my POTS. I’m still eating less than the recommended amount of calories but it’s because I don’t have an appetite.

@Triniti_a especially in the belly. Its slowing down the heart rate so consuming less calories. My husband is on a small dosage, 25mg/day and still he put on a good 3 inches and 15+ pounds in the first year. Now 15 years, later, it is 50+ pounds. Im on 150mg and had put on 15 pounds my first year. The timing matched the start of the metoprol. I didnt gain the weight the first 3 months of having pots (even with ectremely limited physical activity). For me, it worked to, reduced my calorie intake until my weight gain equalized. Then reduced slightly more. I lost 10 of the 15.

Dude, same. I don't really have a lot of suggestions here because all the advice doctors have given me has been literal starvation dieting, but I gained a TON of weight in the years after my diagnosis. I think stress is part of it. I will say that mine eventually evened out, though I've no idea how to lose it again. Sorry I can't be much help, but at least you're not alone? 💕

Weight gain has also been a problem for me, but I am also on ssri's. I haven't been able to lose the weight either.

I have found stationary bikes, or recumbent (sitting) bikes to be pretty good for me. There are typically some at local gyms.

Yoga or swimming are great for me when my POTS is acting up long-term but I still want to get exercise in :)

Meds are big reasons for weight gain. Something to check. Drugs.com. still may not want to try a different one, but still good to know. Metropolol, a beta blocker. Is a big weight gain.

@55isMe I didn't know that was an effect of metoprolol, I was wondering why I've gained weight out of no where.. thank you for the info!
