What are some ways to self sooth/ self regulate? - Lou 🦋

Alike health

Some ways to self-soothe and self-regulate include deep breathing, grounding yourself in the moment, focusing on calming hobbies, talking to supportive friends and family members, practicing self-talk and meditation, understanding your triggers, and carrying comforting items like small stones or essential oils.

@CrazyCatLady2003 yes, I 100% agree! I'm just now begging to fund new hobbies as well to help ease my mind and body. I'm nit perfect at all but they are very helpful with loosing my muscles and calming my mind

I go lay on my back if I can make it to my bedroom, but I do on the floor too. I will turn my powerful fan on to get the cold shock. And I will grab a pillow or wad a soft blanket and press it against my chest while trying to slow my breathing. Picking around my nails Holding my cats to my chest. Nesting in a blanket cacoon for days on end.

If I'm in public and I feel anxious, I recite the ABCs in sign language. It allows my brain to focus on something else while also being productive. I've also found drawing and singing to be great outlets for releasing intense emotions. However, on my bad depression/ADHD/PTSD days, I like to lay in bed with warm, fluffy blankets and watch a show or YouTube videos that interest or calm me. Crocheting is also a great outlet for my ADHD related anxiety. Also, if you try a new hobby and you're not good at it at first, don't worry. It's about fun and relaxation, not being perfect 🧡
