I'm a victim of domestic abuse from my parents whom which I live with. I don't have anywhere else to live and a can't even crash on couches because my friend (only one friend) doesn't have room for me. My therapist wants me to call local abuse lines to find low income housing but I'm really scared. It's really out of my comfort zone and I don't know what questions to ask. Does anyone have any advice or ways to cope with the abuse?

I recommend getting out of that living situation if possible. I know change is so scary, but ultimately, in the long run, you'll be so much better off not dealing with their abuse anymore. I went to live with my grandma at 16 because I didn't want to deal with my parents' (especially my dad's) abuse anymore especially after a beating, and while it was so difficult to adjust to it was for the better. Who knows what would've happened to me had I continued to live there. My dad has definitely made some changes and efforts for the better, but deep down, he will still always remain a narcissist, and I don't think there's any fixing to that at least in his case.
