I’ve gained 25 pounds since September 2022 what is happening??? I don’t eat that much and I eat healthy I eat like 1000 calories a day. I’ve also had to go to the bathroom a lot and at night which never happened before. Im so stressed about this right now. Is it from medication?

One possibility is that your medication could be contributing to the weight gain. For example, someone mentioned gaining weight while taking Sertraline and suggested discussing this with your prescriber. Additionally, consuming only 1000 calories a day might not be healthy unless under the supervision of a doctor, as it could lower your metabolism.

It may be because you’re only eating 1000 calories a day! I have been to treatment a couple times for anorexia, and something we learned about is how your body will go into “starvation mode”. Basically, if you deprive your body of calories and nutrients too much, your body will start storing everything it can in case it needs to rely on the storage for energy. It’s kind of like your “caveman” brain taking over to make sure you have enough energy and storage to keep your body functioning if you run out of food. You may want to talk to your doctor about the weight gain and having to go to the bathroom a lot. But your low caloric intake could be causing you to gain weight. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions! 💕

Me too, but slightly different timing. I had always been like 125 +/-5 pounds. First 6 months of this POTS stuff, i put on 10 pounds. Then dropped 5 in next 3 months. No real dietary chsnges. Then had mastectomy and put on 20 pounds that year even though nore active than prior year and no dietary changes. So then i decided to lose weight. First had to go all the way from 1500 calories down to 1100 just to stop gaining weight. Then finally losing weight when down to 1000 calories. 6 months lost 10 pounds. Then kind of hovering there for a full year. Then this Sept, i had kidney stones and gained 5 pounds in first week after passing. Then sciatica in October. Now gained another 8 pounds. Simply frustrating.
