i just hit a block in EMDR and we can’t move forward because my brain is just shutting down. on top of that, going through EMDR has only worsened the nightmares and flashbacks for me, any advice or knowledge about how to push through this?

I don’t have experience with EMDR but I have had blocks in therapy. Sometimes it’s good to have a temporary break from therapy. But always have a way to contact your therapist incase you have a mental health emergency.

This is often a sign you've been pushing it down for too long. A big thing that's helped me is expressing all my intrusive thoughts about my trauma immediately after I have them in some way. I write about it or talk to a friend personally but you could do something more artistic!

listen to yourself. this is your body's way of asking for a break, so give it one. EMDR was very had on me too, and it takes a lot of time to process

At least for me, I find keep going works. Emdr is helping me, but you may want to talk to your therapist
