hi all! I am trying to accept that I have PTSD and am not a faker/imposter even though my symptoms are very real and I am suffering. does anyone else feel like their diagnosis isn't real despite having all the symptoms?

accepting your diagnosis can be a challenge, but also a blessing. you now know what your next steps can be towards getting treatment. you know the problem, now you can begin your journey to find the solution. good luck! it is quite a journey, and it is not easy, but if you put in the work you will begin to see things working and you will be able to manage it. just donā€™t give up.

I know I tend to feel very insecure when I feel that someone else has been through "worse"

Yes. Part of PTSD is the inability to process what happened to you in a healthy way. Itā€™s very common to doubt yourself and tell yourself that nothing ever happened to you. For me I try to tell myself it isnā€™t real because thatā€™s easier than accepting that it actually happened to me. I definitely recommend talking to a therapist or psychiatrist about your doubts, itā€™s a very difficult diagnosis to process and itā€™s still very stigmatized so sometimes talking to professionals about it can help you process the diagnosis
