The struggles of house hunting rn. I have never been scared of being homeless untill now and to tell the truth I am more worried about my folks. They are 80 and 70 respectfully. I am still trying to get disability, I feel so useless and such like a bad daughter. I've been looking online, going out driving around looking for places. I have till the end of Sept to find a place.

You can add your pets to your lease without a fee. If they are listed as emotional support pets. Your doctor will just need to sign a form.

@Nikko81 I knew that was true for dogs, but cats to?

I feel you! I'm dealing with that right now. Houses are almost 3k for a 3 bed One tip, if you register your pets as ESA, they no longer are considered a pet, they are family. Also landlord are not allowed to charge pet fees or rent. Plus they are certified then to fly with you if you ever need it too. Love to talk to yoy more if you want!

@cratch Is it hard to get a cat ESA registered? I have my Luna and she is definitely a stress reliever for BOTH my brother and I.

@Lunabean no, not at all. Intake forms then talk to one of their docs, then uou get papers saying you need them! Message me and we can talk more and I'll send you the link. Lots of fake sites so need to make sure it's a true site!

I feel what you are going through. We are currently fighting in court to get bankruptcy because a past landlord from 14 years ago is suing to get our house taken from us. Each time one leak is fixed another pops up somewhere else.

✋ have you tried to apply for low income housing? I didn't think of that a minute ago. I used to be on low income housing. It really helped me out when I was a single mother.

😥 Landlords all around the country are doubling the rent since Covid. My landlord only raised ours $150 last year. I feel lucky!

Thanks everyone! I will keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers as well. It isn't getting any easier. The landlords are wanting 1600 to 1900 for a 3 bedroom plus the pet rent most are charging an additional 50 dollars per pet so that's an extra 100 dollars for us.

🙏 I am on disability and I had to reapply because I was turned down the first time. I have been told that just about everyone gets turned down the first time they apply. I believe it. Everyone that I know was turned down the first time! But, if you have a disability that can't be denied, or faked, they get disability the first try. I wish you luck on your case! The Department of Social Services has a list of rental landlords. When I was needing a place to live, I got a print off of all the landlords in my county. I will be thinking and praying for you and your family!

We need to move as well. Praying for both you and my family situation about this. Praying protection over your family as well.

The ridiculous pet policies are the reason I'm trying to buy a house. These landlords are out of their minds!

It's so hard right now. everywhere is so expensive. are you looking for just you or your folks as well?

      • Lunabean

        619d

@Squishlover For all us. We thought $1,000 monthly would be ok since we are in a nice middle class town. And pets? Most places are against it! I get an extra fee but to absolutely refuse based because of pets!!!

@Lunabean oh you must live in a way cheaper state. I'm in California and one bedroom is 2300. It's insane. And pets yes that's so hard.
