Sorry, I haven't posted a lot on here on the last few days my friends. Since my husband passed, our ex left, and me having to move in 90 days due to HUD rules. (Because I don't qualify for the 2 bedroom I am I. right now.) But we got good news! My little Chiweenie and I have found a place! It's a TINY 1 bedroom apartment that's only a 11 minute walk from my current place. I need to be honest there are A LOT of problems with my current place. So I am glad we are moving. 1. When you flush the toilet all drains smell like sewage in the bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom sinks back up constantly. 2. The room next to the bathroom always smells like mildew. 3. There is NO proper heating/air conditioning besides a window unit and tiny 1500 watt heater that do jack shit. The gas heater is unvented and the gas company flagged it as a safety hazard. 4. The back right burner on the gas stove doesn't work. 5. Several sockets don't work, upside down, have holes in the wall beside them, or just stuck outside the wall. 6. The house slants and the flooring is coming up. It's cheaply painted wood and the paint is coming up. 7. The door frames paneling is coming off, cabinets in the laundry room are being braced in place to the ceiling. 8. When we moved in it was filthy, things from the workers and previous tenants were still in the house. 9. The backyard gate doesn't latch and my dog if I don't tie the leash around the latch could get out. 10. No washing or drying machine they promise would be there. 11. A fucked up detached garage that isn't even useable. 12. A dead tree out front being eaten alive by mistletoe. 13. A gravel driveway that has tiny bits of glass and trash in it. 14. Broken doorbell and broken screen door. I like the new apartment (Even though it's TINY and upstairs.) 1. It has a bathtub/shower and not a tiny shower like where I am now! 2. It has a hall closet for storage! 3. It has central heat and air that is all straight electric! No gas and electric like where we are now! 4. The electric stove works and there is plenty of drawers and cabinets for my kitchen stuff in my kitchen! 5. They have a laundry mat I can use to do my laundry instead of going to my friend's house once a week.6. The plugs are all workable and flush to the wall. 7. New paint and carpet in the apartment. 8. Cabinets in the kitchen aren't fucked up. 9. The apartment is clean and nothing broken! 10. Has quiet neighbors and common area! I just need to call HUD Monday and schedule the the health and safety inspection. The apartment will EASILY pass! They'll tell me if they approve of it and I can move in on the 1st when I get paid!! My biggest worry is how much my rent will be. I pay that and the electric. I have bills like a storage room (Have a full house hold of things I can't lose.), a loan (Trying to pay off that my husband and I took out when we had a family crisis.),and my cell phone (need it because it's the only way to contact me. Plus with my medical issues it's a necessity when I am out alone.) that HUD doesn't count as apart of my regular bills. (Wish they would.)

@E_belli replying to add you are also able to bring your own smartphone, as theirs are honestly not that great. If you check what towers they use (for instance I use SafeLink so I bought an AT&T phone to use) then you can kind of shop around and see which programs would work with your current phone. It was $1 for me to get the sim kit and activate mine with SafeLink. There's also assurance wireless, and if you look it up there are lists that have several others. The internet essentials program through Comcast is $10 a month, but if you apply for the ACP credit, it will cover that entirely. However, make sure you stay on top of renewing the credit, and that you call and report it to the provider when you do. Learned the hard way that they don't automatically add a renewed acp credit on 😂 When I applied for both, I just gave my social, and was approved since my social is attached to a food stamps case.

I'm sooo glad you found a good place! You deserve it after all you've been thru. Especially recently. I work for my county health dept who used to work pretty closely with HUD (in IL) and I work in a residential mental health program that refers to HUD services. I don't know your situation and its none of my business, but just as a side thing, if it applies to you. If you happen to have Medicaid and/or SNAP benefits, you should qualify for a free government phone. It is a smartphone, you have some free data, you can always pay to add more at a reasonable price. You just have to send proof, so like your Medicaid card or LINK card info. And the service is good. And there are usually different companies included with different plans. You just have to renew every so often by sending the proof again. And you don't have to pay for the phone or any monthly bill. Also, there are similar programs for the internet through Xfinity and AT&T if those are in your area. Just some info, hope something helps. I hope this place is wonderful for you 🙂

@Cinnawut Get ahold of your local HUD office and talk with them. You don't need any form of income for them to help you. You can do this!
