Seeking Advice on Meditation for Recovery Success

I'm in a 6-month recovery program at the moment, which isn't my first program but I recently began meditating daily as well as journaling. I'm really wondering if anyone else has had success with meditation because I'm trying to really focus on envisioning myself having success and being happy in the future. I was able to quit smoking using this strategy recently. I was a 25-year smoker and have quit for a month now. I'm trying to use a similar tactic to remain grateful and hopefully it will carry over in the future and help me stay drug free.
