Sounds like could be shingles. Which is very possible in a vaccinated against chicken pox.

I didn't change anything I use on him either but I'll try using hypoallergenic laundry soap and see if that helps I have been using dryer sheets too and I don't usually

If they are in lines, check his bed for bed bugs (yes they are real)

Do they itch? It could be chicken pox
