Hi, does anyone experience intrusive thoughts? And how do you deal with them? I have been with my partner for 25 years and obviously different things happened in life. The problem is I remember every single hurt I had. That is mostly connected to other females, being that online chat or just female friends. I keep replaying different scenarios from the past in my head every single day and it eats me alive. What is more interesting is I myself did worse things to him but I somehow ignore it. Does anyone else has experienced anything similar and how did you cope with it. It’s getting worse every day.

Thank you, I’m aware that I need a psychologist, unfortunately waiting lists are so long here in UK (talking about NHS as I cannot afford paying privately at the moment). But at least there is hope, it helped others so might help me too

My psychologist is helping me to recognise the triggers so that I can challenge them, it's hard to start with but so far seems to be working

If you haven't looked into DBT I would highly suggest it. It really helped with intrusive thoughts and calmed raging emotions too.

Intrusive thoughts are the worst. The best thing I can tell you is to talk with a therapist to start going through why you have these thoughts. If you can't do that, try journaling through the thoughts. Figuring out why you keep going there, and why you dwell, would be really helpful.

@Evaleastaristev thank you for your reply! I am on a waiting list for therapy at the moment but i will start doing journaling meanwhile
