I am using a serum with retinol it it which definitely helps to smooth but I haven’t used it that long and have not yet seen major improvement with dark spots but I have hope - I’m using the cerave retinol serum
Prescription tretinoin works wonders, also AHA and BHA’s to chemically exfoliate your skin (start off w lighter ones). If it’s really bad you may want to look into a hydroquinone prescription
