I'm really struggling with boredom. i constantly need to be stimulated otherwise my anxiety skyrockets. I'm usually very good at distracting myself but every now and then i lose interest in everything and panic and become very aware that I'm alive. it's like,,,, sometimes time moves quickly and other times a day takes 60 years. my chest hurts from all the anxiety

I am a huge advocate of supplements and highly suggest 5-HTP. Take 1-2 when you feel anxious and in 30min your body is a lot calmer— it helps trick the mind into being less anxious. I use it for depression but it has helped a relative when they ran out of anxiety medication. Google it! It’s got good reviews. Hope that helps :) ps: it may make you drowsy but mainly if you take 3… i suggest taking 1 during the day and another at night

This is something I’m been actively working on with a cognitive behavioral therapist - she told me to really focus on your emotions and think “what’s causing me to feel this way right now” and also to try square breathing (inhale through your nose for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 5 seconds, and exhale through your mouth for 5 seconds). It activates the part of your nervous system that’s separate from the part that causes anxiety so it sort of forced your brain to calm down a little. It definitely takes me a few minutes and I definitely have to fight the urge to give up or move around etc., but I find it does help take the edge off a little!

Personally, having two or three different pets with different needs has been a huge help. I also have music of dozens of different genres and styles going pretty much 24/7, the constant melody and lyrics keeps my mind from “hearing” myself as loudly because I’m truly hearing something else! I got super overwhelmed several weeks ago and normally I would have reached out to a friend and spent time with them but I have to be really careful during the pandemic. I noticed I absorb what I’m watching on television as actual association and watching crime dramas 4+ hours a day was grating on me all of a sudden. Now I have the Waltons playing on my phone, tablet or tv whenever I’m not listening to music and it has tricked my brain into thinking I’m spending time with laid back, old school but loving people- I’m so much calmer!

I hate when I feel like that! I’m really sorry you are having this problem!
