@Kcmichelle I hope it helps!! I've been trying to eat this way...it's hard at times, from lifelong habit as well as just liking things together--the veggies and fruit on a kabob give the meat so much flavor! Sandwiches are a mess too. Lol But it's worth it if it works! I've done well so far, though beef still seems bad for me. I am ok with a few bites, so when I can I steal a small piece from my husband. 😆 It hasn't been long enough to know of it's working yet. I'll update later too.

If anyone tries, please let me know if it works, if you can/want. I really hope it helps, even one person.

Oh wow, that sounds great! I mean it's definitely worth trying, I'll be implementing this for sure. I'll give an update after trying this for a while, see if this helps me. Thank you 😊

I was actually given a different order, due to how fast each thing digests. And the categories of Carb, Fat, Protein, so a bit different. Something like green beans, which he mentioned as part of an example meal, counts for this as a carb, even though they are low carb. So, carbs can be digested through the stomach wall, and they digest fastest, in 3-60 minutes. Fats take 90 minutes, and proteins are 1-18 hours. So if you eat proteins first, they effectively plug the exit, and sometimes even liquids can't get out easily. So, the order he gave me is carbs, fats, proteins. Things that fit in two categories (carbs and fat--like baked treats or chips--or fat and protein--like beef, cheese, nuts) can be eaten in between those categories. Or, if all you have is a mixed food (his example was a Hot Pocket), then just have that. Also very important is liquid, because it can help move things out, since it will usually be able to get out. He said to "chronically" sip all day. That is step 2 of 4. Most important, and the foundation of the other 3 steps is the ordered eating, by the way. Step 3 is movement. 10+ minutes of waking after (within 1 hour) each meal is great. He said you can march in place while you watch tv if you want, and a gentle walk is all that's needed. With a good amount of liquid in your belly, as you move it will be able to sort of slosh out and take food with it. Step 4 is to stay upright for 3-4 hours after your last meal (assuming you tend to be upright after other meals during the day). He told me he sees at least 1 GP patient each week (he ONLY sees diabetics, so he gets a lot of GP people), and had them all do this. Depending on severity, some ONLY need to do the ordered eating, but he had one lady who had complete paralysis--0% movement after 4 hours--and she did this...and is doing so great she doesn't need to come anymore. I trust him, more than most providers I've ever had by a long shot, and he's been more valuable than ALL my other providers COMBINED. So I have strong hope it will work, though of course I know nothing ever works for ALL people.
@1stMayflowers this sounds like a great plan.
Hmm what I've seen from searching is eating certain food groups in an order so they digest better. Is that correct? So eat veggies, protein, then carbs. I've never tried that.
I have not, I'll have to look this up.
@Kcmichelle I saw my Diabetes Educator/Nutritionist yesterday, and he told me about it. He said "we can kick GP's butt" with it, and some other simple things. The ordered eating is most important though, and the way he spoke about it, I wonder if anyone has tried it.
