Start with tiny tasks. Instead of setting out to wash all the dishes, wash a few. Tidy up a corner instead of the whole room. I did this and little by little I now make a list for each day, usually 2 to 3 tasks.

i alway try just to do one thing and sometimes once i start it easier. i say i’ll set a 5min timer and just put away my cloths or put some washing on and often i find it easier to keep going after and if not at least i’ve done one thing. also putting on some music or having a friend round to help of your comfortable. 💕

I really struggle with cleaning and tidying too. So I really don't have too much advice unfortunately, what's helped me recently was having someone else come in and do one big clean, so now my cleaning tasks are more manageable because there's less to do. And I know that's not an option for anyone. I think an important thing to remember especially with ADHD is that thinking of "cleaning my house" as one impossible, terrible task... isn't going to help anyone. You gotta break it all down to manageable smaller tasks. "Clean the kitchen" is not one task, it's at least 8. Breaking it into smaller tasks can also make it feel stressful like "there's so much to do!!", but you don't need to do it all at once. If all you can manage is taking the bin out, that's fine. that's a start. that's an accomplishment. it's taking a little bit of the weight off your shoulders compared to just the giant "clean the whole house" task that you'll never want to start because it's too overwhelming to think about. Another tip that might not help actually cleaning your house, but will maybe help your mind a bit is to rephrase the need to clean your house. (I'm trying to do this and it's difficult and unnatural to me but it does help) Instead of "I HAVE to clean my house. I SHOULD clean my house." try to think about it more as a want, even a pleasure. "I want to live in a clean house." "I want my clothes to be easily accessible so I can get ready quicker in the morning." Like, I still hate the task of putting my laundry away, but I'm trying to focus on what I want (clothes in my closet and not on the chair and bed). It's also okay that we struggle with cleaning. It's okay that some people find it easier than us, they're not us. You're amazing at lots of other things I'm sure, and it's not your fault your brain works a bit differently. Wishing you the best of luck!! 🤗
