I fainted today and had potential fnd seizure. I banged my head hard. My fall detector alerted my partner who called the ambulance. I was then in and out of conscious and having seizures. When the paramedic arrived they commented saying "come on it's not my first day on the job, I can see your eyes move". Sometimes my eyes do move when I have the seizures. They went about it like come on get up stop faking. It made me feel upset. I could only remember most of this because of my partner telling me or through hindsight. In the moment I was so confused my head hurt because I hit it, I threw whilst passed out. Then they lifted me from the floor and because of Pots I passed out. When I come around I'm panting for air like I usually do. The paramedic says "stop panicking calm your breathing or you will actually pass out". I was so confused because it felt like saying calm down. I can not control my heavy breathing when I've just come around. Maybe I'm overthinking but I just felt like they didn't believe me and thought I was faking my conditions. Has anyone else had similar experiences with medical professionals?
Yes. You need to have one of those medical alert papers. Like old people put things like a dnr on their fridge. They make them for other conditions specifically for EMS to read.
i've experienced this a lot. it's awful. some paramedics are lovely and really understanding but there are too many who just think you're faking and completely dismiss your conditions. it's awful. im sorry you went through that, im here if you need to talk
Once I was at a football game and my POTS started acting up so I went to the air-conditioned 'med tent' to lay down. They only had a chair. No beds. Whatever, I'll lay on the floor, done it before no big deal... But the EMS guy wouldn't let me. I told the guy "I know what I need. Let me lay down." He kept trying to argue with me and I told him "i have pots" and guy literally was googling it in front of me. Then he had me stand up quickly so of course I passed out. He called an ambulance for me but by that point I was fine. Ambulance guys basically told Med Tent Guy "you're an idiot" and left
