my anxiety is so bad at night making it hard to sleep. does anyone else get that feeling that you can't sleep because your stressed about anything and everything?

Me when I get stress out and have a lot of anxiety especially at night and when I get something on my mind it makes it hard to like sleep so I know the feeling
I’ve been having trouble sleeping since my bf and I broke up 2 months ago. I’m physically tired but once I shut the light, my brain won’t go to sleep. Only thing that helps is melatonin or if I’m physically exhausted from not sleeping well for a few days

It’s really hard to manage, I understand where you’re coming from. If melatonin is an option for you, ask your doctor if that would be okay with whatever medication you take. It’ll force you into a sleep rhythm that will be hard to deny, even with anxious thoughts.
Don’t ignore it. Just put getting sleep first because that alone will slow your anxious thoughts.
Yes, especially with stress over existential matters like Covid, Ukraine, etc…I’ve started putting my phone away an hour before bed. Less screen time helps me a lot.
Also seconding the melatonin comment & I also take magnesium because that helps with sleep. Meditating or a soothing shower when I’m really losing it helps too- sometimes I sit in the tub curled up like a cat when I am really overwhelmed 😆

Yes! You are not alone! I highly suggest reading or journaling before bed. When you wake up or get too in your head restart your bedtime routine
Yes! My mind constantly goes 100 miles per hour and it makes it hard to sleep. Have you tried anything recently that has made it better?
Yes ever night and it is frustrating but I like to read a book or write my feelings in my little note book to help a bit
I was having trouble getting my thoughts to quiet down enough to fall asleep one night in the hospital and a friendly nurse advised me to count backwards from 100 in my head and it helped force my brain to stop looping. Sometimes you have to do it more than once but I've found it helpful for many years now.
if you have headspace try listening to their sleep casts or meditations. try to avoid being on your phone (as tempting as it is to distract yourself from the anxiety, try using something less stimulating so that your brain can slow down and relax enough to fall asleep)
for me, taking klonopin at night has helped a lot, and in the past i used ambien which worked too , but medication isn’t for everyone. if you want to try more natural ways, look at my other comment. you can also try doing a little bit of exercise each night, sometimes if you just get tired enough you can fall aleep easier :) in my own experience *
You are not alone, I have the worst anxiety at night as well and usually only get a few or less hours of sleep due to it because of things running through my head and the fear that I may not wake up or that the next day is going to be horrible and stressful and this has gotten worse since a loved ones passing and two different family crisis in just 1 month and that all really set it off pretty bad.
oh my gosh yes. i live with my husband and have no family near us. they live states over. my husband also works nights so i’m by myself. we recently got a dog to help me with the anxiety i would get. she has helped a bunch. an emotional support pet if you will. watching shows, reading, writing are all things that help me get sleepy. another thing that may help, personal preference completely, is giving yourself some pleasure if you know what i mean. it can make you tired and get the serotonin you need. i didn’t wanna do anything with myself after a breakup a couple years ago but learned to love myself. if you’re struggling with self love, it may be a reason you have anxiety as well. if this isn’t really something you’re struggling with, then i’d give the self pleasure a go if nothing else suffices.
That is one of the things I just discussed with my doctor. All she did was give me sleeping pills, which I will have to cut in half. They are to strong. I can get up the next day but I'm groggy all day. Or I take several small naps.

sounds, and get ready for bed.
Yea I struggle with this also because of ptsd from when I lived with my parents but I do my best to grab a stuffy and think of where I wish I was and that helps me sleep
