I would to know if anyone has tried both Ritalin and Vyvanse and which drug helped you more with ADD? I am also wondering if you left your ADD untreated if you notice OCD and anxiety symptoms. I am back having the ADD controlled and the OCD and anxiety symptoms are going away with Vyvanse but it is very expensive.

Really? That’s great news! Yeah.. 4000+ is hella expensive for one pill. I know there are other good meds out there that ppl swear by too. And although Ritalin didn’t work for me- it does help people. I should say, i’m bipolar as well so that could be why it made me emotional lol. Also the main ingredient in Ritalin (methylphenidate) is also in concerta which is longer acting (similar to Vyvanse in that respect), which could help more too. My younger brother likes it and has been on it for longer than I’ve been on Vyvanse. I hope that coupon can help and you stay on it! But don’t worry, there are other good meds out there!!

@E_belli I was able to get a coupon took the price from $360 to $300 better but still too expensive.

@CathyPumpkin Crap, I’m so sorry! Is it something that you can contest? I know some meds aren’t covered but if you get a docs note about the necessity and urgency of it, some insurance will take that into consideration and cover it at the regular drug price , if yours it copay based. I know that’s how mine works (Blue Cross) and some my clients on Medicaid have done it too, it hasn’t worked for all of them, but a good majority. I dunno if that’s something you’re interested. Otherwise, I’m real sorry that it isn’t accessible. That just sucks butt. I hope you find something good that works for you! I’ll also put in a plug- if you’re looking for an ADHD community, full of only ADHDers- Journey2ADHD is spectacular. And during ADHD awareness month you can get a free membership. And they’re going to start a new program with in it that is called Journey2Me which is more slightly individualized/group coaching but only $15 (for a couple weeks- it goes up to $30 in November I think) per month which is ridiculously cheap considering ADHD individual coaching is like $300 a month in general. I just found it (thru insta) and it’s so great, highly recommend. In the Journey2Me group they will do like worksheets and ebooks and webinars and group chat/videos about the various parts of ADHD and managing your symptoms and even more that I can’t remember at the moment. There are people of all ages there. It starts in November with this good price till then. If you’re interested, I can give you the info. Sorry this is a ramble but it’s a great resource! Good luck in your endeavors and I wish you the best. (& I hope 2 see you there 🙃)

Oh my goodness! That’s so much! With insurance mine is only $30. I also work for the health dept so i am lucky on that one. This is what I used to use though- https://www.vyvanse.com/coupon Hopefully this can help you even if a little bc that is an absolutely ridiculous price. I honestly don’t think it could be my priority at that price!! That’s like a car payment, holy moly! I’m so sorry!

@E_belli Vyvanse should be generic next year but if I can't find it cheaper I will start something new next month, I can't justify over 4000 a year in our family budget when only my husband works and may put out son through college. Vyvanse has done such a great job controlling the OCD, compulsive eating, emotional eating and binge eating. It has helped greatly with rumination as well.

How do you handle the costs of Vyvanse? We have insurance and it cost me $360 for one month.

I took Ritalin for a very short amount of time and have been taking Vyvanse for 7ish years. Vyvanse suites me better personally. I know it’s different for everybody. Ritalin didn’t give me the focus/clear(er) head like Vyvanse does. And the first day I took Ritalin, I crashed so hard that evening/every day I took it, it was terrible, I was upset and crying and just miserable. Vyvanse has never given me a crash like anything close to that. I can get a bit tired after 14 hrs but never crash. Vyvanse helps my OCD too, it makes my head clearer. It’s one of the reasons I like it so much. I think they still have it, but they used to have a a coupon that brought it down to $30. It’s the most expensive of my meds at that price still, which is the price of mine with insurance. But for me it’s worth it for how much it helps. But ya gotta work best with your priorities. But if you haven’t, I recommend trying to look for that coupon! It’s more expensive than others bc there is no generic.
