does therapy make anyone else depressed? im ashamed of my past actions and things ive done recently, so im too scared to talk about them, and therapists never wanna accept a no when you don't wanna discuss something. sometimes i leave therapy depressed when i was okay beforehand, and im unable to stop shaking during the appointment and all day after. my appointments are made like 3 months apart and i usually get very depressed and wish i could talk to someone and bc of ocd i make lists of things i want to discuss in my next session, but then forget them all and have nothing to say when the time comes. some therapists are beyond optimistic and downplay my problems, they either dont believe me when i say ive done questionable things,or make it sound like its not a big deal im good at nothing and have no friends bc there are other people like me, and that i shouldn't be jealous of the 99%of people my age with friends because they're is apparently other people just as pathetic as me

It’s a shame that they downplay problems, as it makes us feel de-valued, when people with anxiety/depression and other MH disorders already feel like they’re not listened to or that they’re not good enough

I’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences with therapists. Maybe a change of therapist may help? It’s always taken me a while to find someone who understands what I want to talk about rather than what they want me to talk about if that makes sense. I feel ashamed of lots of things I’ve done to the point that to this day I’ve still never told anyone. If it’s not something you want to or are ready to share, then you don’t have to.

@StarryAstronaut thank you, you are right. i wish more people understood, it isnt like the therapist is trying to make me talk ab it, but if i dont they try guessing what happened. anyway i just changed therapists and ive been with this new one for a bit lol so idk what to do

@arttheclownapologist no harm in changing therapist again. If it’s not the right fit, then it’s not the right fit. :)
