I've been experienced POTS for a few months now. It all started after I got COVID-19. The symptoms I feel are pounding headaches, high blood pressure, extremely fast heart rate, light headedness, fatigue, dizziness, and feeling like I'm gonna pass out. I thought it was normal when my blood pressure and heart rate skyrocket when I stand up, but no it isn't. I have been to the emergency room multiple times but all they say is that I have anxiety and I need to take all these pills for it. but I've been taking lexapro for a while and nothing is helping. I know what anxiety feels like and this isn't anxiety. I help my pots by eating salty foods, exercising, drinking a lot of water, and laying down.

i was diagnosed with IST which is pretty much the same thing as POTS except my blood pressure doesn’t change, but lightheaded, dizzy, fatigued, heart rate used to jump into the 170s just from standing and would shoot up just shifting in my bed from 95 to 125 in a few seconds 😵‍💫 my doctors also tried to blow it off as anxiety which i do have but i know that’s not the issue. listen to your body! if you have high blood pressure and high heart rate you would really benefit from beta blockers. they have helped me tremendously! i recommend seeing a good cardiologist/electrophysiologist good luck ❤️

You’re not alone. I’ve had pots since I was a teenager (I’m in my 30s now) and EEEEEVERY doctor wanted to diagnose me with some anxiety disorder. Turns out it was pots the whole time. Also I found a study online that we are frequently misdiagnosed with anxiety but actually get anxiety at the same rate as the general population without if pots does. I recommend finding that study with google and showing it to anyone who wants to dismiss you. The physical symptoms of pots can often feel similar to an anxiety attack but it’s definitely not the same thing as an anxiety attack. While it’s possible to have pots and anxiety at the same time, it wasn’t the case for me and isn’t for many other people. If you’ve already tried many medications and therapy and nothing works, you might not have anxiety. If you’re young and especially if you’re female, doctors tend to dismiss you and call any of your concerns anxiety. It’s helpful to have that study and the assessment of a psychiatrist to back you up if you’re sick of getting dismissed though. Be sure to tell your psychiatrist about your POTS too.

@Avanelle Also I was put on lexapro for a while and be careful because one of its lesser known side effects is that it can reduce the amount of sodium in your blood and that makes pots worse
