Take out spleen or keep it? I'm so torn about it. Seeing Mayo Clinic for consult. I just need peoples personal experience with Portal Vein thrombosis and splenamegaly.

no spleen is not a problem. had mine out at 4, i am 54 now. no issues since it was removed.

Hey, I had my spleen removed after a repeated gastric varices bleeding, due to splenic vein thrombosis. My doctor instructed me that infection is my biggest risk in living without a spleen, and in every case of high fever I should get to the er asap
