how did any of you get over the fear of being in a relationship after years of sexual and physical trauma? i always panic when people confess to me and always freak out when people i like end up liking me back. but i desperately want to feel ""normal"" for once.

@fruitpunk THIS!! For me, it also took me a healthy relationship to realize what one was and that triggered flashbacks and panic attacks while I was with him because I felt vulnerable and safe (my therapist said this is a good thing, you are healing by this even though it may not feel like it) but as they said respect your boundaries and make sure your partner does too! It just takes time with someone healthy to realize it's going to be okay 💕

It definitely varies from person to person. Personally, my partner helped me realize that I can be in a relationship with someone that treats me well and makes me feel safe. It was difficult at first. I would have flashbacks while lying in bed with him and spiral into a panic. It definitely took time. Be patient and kind with yourself. Communication is extremely important. Respect your boundaries and don’t push yourself. Healing takes time. 💕

For me it was my partner who helped me get over it. We both have had trauma in those areas so we make sure that we communicate constantly and have no physical or sexual expectations for each other.
